Levi Jones, one of Boise State University’s best wrestlers shares his experience with Three Oaks Clinic.

After just two bodywork sessions, I’m back doing what I love.

My experience with Three Oaks Integrative Therapy Clinic has been more than fulfilling. It has provided me with the opportunity to continue chasing my goals in wrestling. I’m in my senior year at Boise State University.  I wrestle for the Broncos at 141 lbs. I found myself entering my senior season unable to wrestle due to some knee problems. I spent nearly my entire summer in physical therapy and trying various treatments to heal my knee. I had A-Stem treatment, and I even did a few cortisone shots. After all that, I was still having problems with my knee, and we were nearing our first match. A family member of mine, persuaded me to make an appointment at Three Oaks Integrative Therapy Clinic. I went; desperate for a solution. I would have been satisfied if they could at least provide me with some knowledge on what was wrong with my knee. But what I received was so much more.

After just two bodywork sessions at the clinic, they fixed my knee and got me back doing what I love.

On the technical side of things, to my understanding, a previous hit to the top of my knee is what had caused a membrane of fascia to basically shrink-wrap the area; preventing further injury. My body’s natural response to the injury was to tighten up all around the knee. As a result, every time my knee hit the mat, I would experience an extreme pain in my knee because it was against everything my body was trying to do. I was at a point where I was contemplating surgery

Susan Stockton, and Kimbal Anderson, the senior staff therapists at Three Oaks found that my iliotibial tract (IT band – a band of tendon on the outer thigh) was extremely tight. It was restricting my the movement of my kneecap and limiting my potential. My body no longer recognized it as a natural motion of impact.

Three Oaks helped me by releasing many of the tension points around my knee, and regained fluid motion in my knee. They broke up the fascia that had built up over the past six months in my knee in two sessions with them.  Since my ssessions with them I have been back in action, and having a great senior season.

One of the things that I noticed about this clinic is that there knowledge, and understanding of the body is extremely extensive. However its important to note that the workers here are not “know it all” type of people, they seem to have trained themselves to use their knowledge for what it is worth, but at the same time they have a great balance of becoming the student and learning from what there clients can offer them also.

To me it seems as if these individuals are truly devoted to serving, and guiding you in the right direction. They even went to the extent of figuring out my body and its motions, by coming and watching me wrestle at a home match against Oregon State.

The overall process of Integrative Therapy and Bodywork has encouraged me to share it with others. It gave me an in-depth understanding of my own body, the therapy healed me, and most importantly – Susan, Kimbal and there staff have had real passion for serving the needs of athletes. It would be crazy not to share the wonderful gift Sports Optimization at Three Oaks has given me. I encourage every athlete that may have something going wrong with their body to go see them.

Thanks again for all the help
